ANDERSON, S.C. – No. 3 Anderson University women's soccer (10-4-2, 6-3-1 SAC), upset No. 6 Carson-Newman (8-5-3, 4-3-3 SAC) in a 2-0 shutout at home on Saturday night in the quarterfinal round of the South Atlantic Conference Championship.

The Trojans opened the scoring in the 17
th minute with a brilliant transition play that began deep in their own half.
Meggie Powell (Johnson City, Tenn.) delivered a long ball down the field to
Ansley Douty (Mount Pleasant, S.C.), who carried it forward and set up
Camryn Woods (Bettendorf, Iowa) for the finish.
The Black and Gold secured their 2-0 victory in the 58
th minute off a well-executed corner. Douty sent the ball into the box, where Woods redirected it with a backheel finish for a highlight-worthy goal.
Despite Carson-Newman holding the edge with 14 shots over Anderson's 12,
Aliyah Morgan (Fort Myers, Fla.) tallied six saves on the match to record her eighth shutout of the season.
"They brought the fight, executed the game plan, and put away quality chances." added Jacobs. "I am grateful for more time with this group and excited for the final four."
Anderson advances to play No. 7 Wingate on Friday, Nov. 14. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. in Matthews, N.C. at the Sportsplex at Matthews.
