Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer (9-4-2, 6-3-1 SAC) wrapped up regular season play on Wednesday night when they defeated Newberry College (5-6-4, 1-6-3 SAC) in a 3-1 victory on the road.

After a scoreless first half, the Trojans opened up the scoring with a lone goal by senior
Camryn Woods (Bettendorf, Iowa) in the 58th minute. Shortly after, junior
Lauren Monday (Anderson, S.C.) capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity, scoring the second goal for Anderson in the 71st minute.
Newberry responded to the Trojan's 2-0 lead with a penalty kick goal in the 77th minute of the match. In the 88th minute, senior
Ceci Pumariega (Knoxville, Tenn.) notched her second collegiate goal of the season and her career, capping the scoring for the Trojans with the last penalty kick of the match.
Anderson tallied 24 shots with eight coming on goal, eight corners, and went 2-for-2 in penalty shots.
"We made some good adjustments for the second half and were able to break through on the scoresheet with contributions from several different players. We are excited to begin post season play."
The Black and Gold begin postseason in the quarterfinal round of the SAC Championships on Saturday night when they host Carson-Newman. The match is slated for 5 p.m.
