SUMTER, S.C. -- The Trojans continued their perfect run through the fall season with a 7-0 win over USC Sumter on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans opened without dropping a game in doubles, thanks to 6-0 wins by senior
Grace Weaver (Lake City, S.C.) and junior
Gigi Sompayrac (Knoxville, Tenn.) at No. 1, senior
Alexandria Braithwaite (Oakville Ontario, Canada) and junior
Elena Ronconi (Salta, Argentina) at No. 2 and sophomore
Ensley Collins (Cleveland, Tenn.) and freshman
Kate Johnson (Isle of Palms, S.C.) at No. 3.
The Trojans dominated in singles, with all matches taking just two sets.
Sompayrac had to battle for her two wins at the No. 1 position in singles, going 6-4 in both.
Braithwaite came in at the No. 2 with 6-0 and 6-2 wins.
Collins followed suit in the No. 3 spot with 6-2 and 6-0 victories.
Ronconi was perfect at No. 4, going 6-0 in both sets.
Johnson came up with a 6-3 and 6-0 win at the No. 5 position.
Morris finished out the singles scoring with two 6-1 wins.
The Trojans are back in action this Wednesday, Oct. 29 when they head to Truett McConnell for the two teams' second meeting of the season at 11 a.m.
