CLEMSON, S.C.--The Trojans rounded out the opening day of the Orange & Purple Invitational and the first competition day of 2025 on Friday evening, notching six personal bests and a school record. 

"Overall today went pretty well," said Head Track and Field Coach Caleb Stephenson. "We had a lot of athletes get some PRs and even an indoor school record broken!" 

Of the six PRs on the day, three came in the women's pole vault competition, as each of the Trojans competing in the event bested their personal records. Sophomore Rylie Jenkins (Loranger, La.) cleared a 3.57m bar to break her own standing school record, while sophomore Jorja Fox (Easley, S.C.) posted a 3.12m mark and freshman Avery Marshall (York, S.C.) reached 3.27m. 

In the women's long jump, sophomore Maggie Long (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) reached a personal best mark with a 5.14m jump, while freshman William Wright (Sumter, S.C.) ran a personal best 51.49s 400m. 

Sophomore Jordan Gross (Chester, Va.) qualified for the 60m hurdles semifinals after posting a PR 9.14s race. Gross then ran a 9.20s semifinal to close out the day. 

The Trojans round out the first day of the men's heptathlon with sophomore David Brown (Menomonie, Wis.) in 9th place with 2399 points, while junior Tyler Farris (Dacula, Ga.) resides in 11th place with 2346 points. Brown PR'd in all four events competed today, with Farris PRing in three of four. 

"With it being the first meet back after winter break, we still have some work to do, but I'm very proud of our performances today and excited to see where we can get in the future."
