Trojans Break Free Of Wolves After Low Scoring First Half; 62-42

Box Score

NEWBERRY, S.C. – Despite scoring its lowest output for a first-half this season (21 points), Anderson University (19-6, 11-6 SAC) picked up the scoring in the second half to pull away from Newberry (8-16, 6-10 SAC) on Wednesday evening at Eleazer Arena.

"After a slow start, I was proud of our response defensively in the second half," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree.  "Never easy to get road wins, so we'll take it. "

The Trojans placed three players in double-figure scoring with graduate Brittney Stafford scoring a game-high 17 points while grabbing five rebounds. Senior Nelliah Wilson netted 15 points and ripped down 12 rebounds, recording her 10th double-double of the season. Senior Zamiya Passmore chipped in 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists for the Black and Gold.

Newberry's lone double-figure scorer was April Rummery-Lamb. Lamb scored 12 points on 6-of-22 shooting.

AU outrebounded the Wolves, 55-38.

Anderson will remain on the road to face-off with SAC foe Wingate on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 2 pm.
