Volleyball Sweeps LMU on Senior Night

ANDERSON, S.C. – The volleyball team honored their five seniors in style with a sweep by scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-12 over a tough South Atlantic Conference opponent in Lincoln Memorial University. The Trojans move to 16-9 overall and 12-5 in the SAC where they sit at fourth place with two regular season games left.

The Trojans were plagued by errors early, with 16 across the board in the first set, but they battled it out through five lead changes for the 25-22 win. They finished the set on a 14-6 run.

They limited their errors and then the second and third sets were all Trojans, with Anderson showing their grit in long rallies and with a dominating lead through the rest of the contest.

All five seniors saw action tonight, with Savannah Cox, who has been out with injury, kicking things off with her lone serve of the season.

Libby Nieporte had another great game, with 10 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, one ace, one block and six digs.

Brantley Chipley came up with some big-time defense for the Trojans with a team-high five blocks and six kills.

Hannah Beville came up with three kills and two blocks and Hannah Neff had seven digs and two aces.

Outside of the seniors, sophomore Ava Reeves led the offense with 11 kills. Sophomore Sophie Deese had 16 digs and sophomore Ellie Nieporte had 28 assists.

The Trojans are back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 13th in a nonconference matchup against Erskine College at 6:30 p.m. which was rescheduled earlier this season.
