ANDERSON, S.C. -- A rainy afternoon in Anderson saw a South Atlantic Conference Quarterfinal nearly finish regulation time scoreless between the 3-seed Trojans and 6-seed Bears, but not before Lenoir-Rhyne found the back of the net in the final second of the game.
Most of the stat lines were all but identical between the Trojans and the Bears, with both squads boasting 12 shots on the evening and Lenoir-Rhyne committing 17 fouls compared to Anderson's 15. LR earned six corner kicks in the contest, while AU recorded four, and the matchup remained scoreless for almost the entirety of the game. The only imbalance of statistics came in terms of cautions, as Anderson conceded only two yellow cards compared to Lenoir-Rhyne's eight.
Seven Trojans tallied shots on the night, led by Juan Pablo Lepervanche (Caracas, Venezuela) with four. Lukas Bos (Capelle Aan Den Ijssel, Netherlands) and Diego Jaramillo (Cali, Colombia) both added two shots to the team's resume, but ultimately, the Black and Gold were unable to capitalize and ended the night without a goal.
In the final minute of the match, a Trojan foul outside the box resulted in an LR freekick. The service made its way across the frame of the goal, bouncing around players, before finding the upper corner of the goal just as the clock expired. The Bears claimed the 1-0 victory and will continue their postseason run, while the result marks the end of the 2024 campaign for the Trojans.
