MARS HILL, N.C. -- Anderson's nine-game winning streak was snapped by Mars Hill on Tuesday night as the Lions took the second meeting between the two teams 3-1 by scores of 23-25, 15-25, 25-22 and 16-25. The Trojans move to 14-8 and 10-4 in the South Atlantic Conference with the loss.
Anderson's offense could not settle in, hitting their lowest hitting percentage of the season at -.006. The Lions had 47 kills on the night, but it was the Trojans' errors that cost them.
Freshman
Mia Bennett had a career-high 13 assists and four digs.
Senior
Brantley Chipley came up with seven total blocks, with five assists and two solo. She added four kills.
On defense, junior
Katy Smith led the way with 23 digs and one ace. Sophomore
Ava Reeves and graduate student
Libby Nieporte had 14 digs each. Reeves came up with 12 kills for a double-double while Nieporte had a season-high eight kills.
The Trojans will look to bounce back this Friday, Nov. 1 when they host RV Wingate University in a big rematch. The Bulldogs took the first meeting between the two teams in straight sets earlier this season.
