Box Score

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer (4-1-1, 1-0-1 SAC) extends home win streak to four with win over South Atlantic Conference foe Carson-Newman (1-2-2, 0-1 SAC), 2-1, on Saturday evening at Spero Financial Field.

"We're thrilled to have gotten the win tonight against a very good Carson Newman team to remain undefeated at home," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "The girls showed a lot of grit and resilience to overcome the early deficit and battled until the end."

Despite falling behind, 1-0, after a goal by Carson-Newman in the 15th minute of action, Anderson's Spencer Heming cleaned up a shot by Emma Deadwyler that hit off the cross bar to tie the match at, 1-1, just inside the 42nd minute of play.

The second half of action was played scoreless until Emma Deadwyler kicked a loose ball from short distance past the keeper in the 58th minute of play to give the Trojans a, 2-1 lead. Deadwyler's game-winner snapped a seven match losing streak against the Eagles.

The Eagles continued to attack outshooting the Trojans 20-10 on the night with 10 of their shots coming on goal. Both the backline play and senior keeper Jeanette Campbell (4-0-1) proved to be too great for the Eagles. Campbell was credited with nine saves on the evening.

The Black and Gold travel to nonconference opponent Lander on Wednesday. Kick-off is slated for 7 pm.
