Trojans Valiant Effort Falls Just Short in Overtime Loss To Queens; 1-0

Box Score

ANDERSON, S.C – Anderson University (2-5-1, 0-3-1 SAC) women's soccer valiant effort fell just short in overtime loss to South Atlantic Conference opponent Queens (6-2, 4-0 SAC) on Wednesday evening at Spero Financial Field.

"The girls played well and displayed the most fight I have seen this season," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We were in that game because of our goalkeeper, Jeanette. I am looking forward to building upon this."

Anderson junior keeper Jeanette Campbell continued to play brilliant between the posts. Campbell recorded 11 saves after a barrage of shots in the first half and second half of action. Campbell leads the SAC with 67 saves on the season.

Queens outshot Anderson 22-7 with 12 of the Royals shots coming on goal.

Just under three minutes of action in overtime, Queens Emma Rose Stockton beat Campbell to the ball in a foot race. Stockton was able to narrowly pop the ball over the head of Campbell that bounced into the open net for the golden goal.

Queens keeper Erica Turner was credited with three saves on the night.

The Trojans will host Tusculum on Saturday. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm.
