Railsplitters Edge Out Trojans; 3-2

HARROGATE, TENN. –Despite making a strong push in the second half, Anderson women's soccer team fell, 3-2, at South Atlantic Conference opponent Lincoln Memorial on Saturday afternoon at the LMU Lacrosse Complex.

With the setback, the Trojans fall to (4-9-1, 2-7-1), while the Railsplitters improve to (7-5-2, 5-4-1 SAC).

Lincoln Memorial stuck first just before halftime (44:02) to give the Railsplitters the early lead.

The Railsplitters used the momentum from that goal to score in the 59th and 61st minute in the second half.

With the match seemingly out of reach, the Black and Gold dug deep and continued to fight. Junior Haley Sanneman scored her third goal of the season in the 69th minute to put the Trojans on the board, 3-1.

Freshman Halena Handel pulled AU within one strike after scoring her first goal of the season in the 73rd minute of the match.

For the match, the Railspliters outshot Anderson 13(8)-9(5) while edging out AU 5-4 in corner kicks.

Junior keeper Jeanette Campbell was credited with five saves, while LMU's Isabelle Zukaitis had two stops.

Anderson will finish up its season on the road at SAC opponent Coker. Kick-off is slated for 4:30 pm.
