Box Score

NEWBERRY, S.C. – After playing a tough four-match nonconference slate coupled with an 11 day lay-off due to inclement weather, Anderson University women's soccer will savor the 1-0 South Atlantic Conference road victory over Newberry on Wednesday afternoon at the Smith Road Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Trojans move to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in SAC action while Newberry drop to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The evenly played match turned in the Black and Gold's favor when sophomore Kirsten Armetta drilled a penalty kick to the back of the net in the 64th minute to give AU a 1-0 edge.

Anderson's Abby Helm recorded four saves on the day with three coming in the first half of action. Newberry's keeper also stopped four potential goals with three saves coming in the second half of play.

Armetta's second career goal helped lift the Trojans over the Wolves for the second season in a row.
