ANDERSON, S.C. - On a brisk night, Anderson University women's tennis quickly defeated South Atlantic Conference opponent Brevard, 9-0, Thursday evening at the AU Tennis Complex.

Anderson moves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in SAC play while the Tornados fall to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

The Trojans only dropped three sets on their way to blanking Brevard for the second straight year with Karen Faria and Alexandra Ebner each notching a pair of wins on the evening. Sophomore Carolina Monteiro recorded a win playing in her first singles match of the year.

Sophomore Ivey Welborn and Junior Rebecca Bruning remain perfect, at 6-0 on the season, with an 8-1 victory over Anita Maryskova and Nirvanna Silva at the No. 1 spot. Veterans Karen Faria and Alexandra Ebner earned an 8-0 win over Sam Miranda and Rachel Stanford at No. 2. Sophomore Abigail Gregory teamed up with freshman Elizabeth Beachy for an 8-0 win over Kristen Ranthbun and Katie Hatter at No. 3.

In the singles portion, Anderson dominated play by only losing two sets. Faria and Ebner picked up their fifth win in singles while freshman Jennifer Holcombe recorded her fourth singles victory of the season. For the Black and Gold, sophomore Carolina Monteiro recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win playing in her first singles match of the year.

Anderson heads north to play a two match road swing when it faces off with Catawba on Saturday and Queens on Sunday. First serve for both matches is set for 1 p.m.
