ANDERSON, S.C. - Behind a late third quarter run that extended into the fourth quarter, the 15th-ranked Anderson women's basketball team overcame a double-digit deficit and won its 23rd consecutive regular-season South Atlantic Conference matchup by outpacing Brevard, 77-69, Wednesday night at the Abney Athletic Center.

Anderson (9-1, 7-0 SAC) handed the Tornados their sixth straight setback, with Brevard falling to 1-9 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

Senior forward Jennifer Monroe posted her fourth straight double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while senior guard Madison Floyd shared team-high scoring honors with 18 points. Junior guard Nakia Young added 13 points and four assists, while junior guard Heather Jankowy narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and a game-high nine assists. Junior forward Alexis Dillard nearly captured a double-double by tallying nine points and 10 boards.

Brevard's Madison Lenox led all scorers with 24 points and had a team-best eight rebounds, followed by Nicole Graham who topped her career-high in points for the second-consecutive contest with 18. Shelby Wolfe and Katie Williams both finished in double digits with 10 points apiece.

Anderson forward Bailey Sims' first basket of the night gave the Trojans their first lead of the game, at 7-5, with 4:26 left in the opening quarter as AU opened their largest lead of the contest on the strength of a 17-8 outburst over the next 7:25. Young and Monroe fueled the run with four points apiece, with the Trojans claiming a 24-13 advantage at the 7:01 mark of the second quarter.

But the Tornados refused to go away quietly, as the visitors scored 26 points in the second frame to claim a 36-29 halftime advantage.

With Brevard holding a double-digit, 48-38, lead, Young and Floyd combined for back-to-back 3-pointers that sparked a 13-0 surge by the Black and Gold that propelled AU to a 51-48 lead and an advantage that the Trojans would not surrender. The Tornados crept back within one with 9:19 remaining in the game, but AU responded by building a 69-59 lead at the 6:04 mark of the fourth quarter and held off any challenge from the Tornados down the stretch.

Anderson opens a two-game conference road swing on Saturday, when the Trojans visit Lenoir-Rhyne. Tip-off in Hickory, N.C., is scheduled for 2 p.m.
