DUE WEST, S.C. - Falling behind early after dropping all three
doubles matches, Anderson University women's tennis managed just
two singles victories, as the Trojans stumbled at archrival
Erskine, 7-2, Thursday afternoon at the EC Tennis Complex.
With the setback, AU moves back to an even 7-7 record for the
season, while the Flying Fleet improve to 13-5 overall and increase
their winning streak to three straight.
After the Trojans were blanked in the doubles round, junior
Lindsay Gregory captured her fifth straight singles win on the year
with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Erskine's Haley Elliott at the No. 5
position. Gregory has now won eight of her last nine matches while
improving to 9-4 overall.
Rounding out the AU scoring was junior Karen Ching who posted a
three-set 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-2) victory over Miranda Guthrie at the
No. 2 slot. Ching bounced back after suffering a straight-set loss
at Wingate last Saturday, improving to 8-6 for the year.
Anderson returns to action on Friday when it hosts South
Atlantic Conference opponent Carson-Newman. First serve from Max
