SALISBURY, N.C. - With four players reaching double figures, Catawba topped Anderson, 68-44, in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym.

Anderson (15-7, 9-3 SAC) suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since a two-game stretch that spanned December and January, while the setback enabled Lenoir-Rhyne to move into a tie with the Trojans at the top of the conference standings. Catawba improved to 11-9 overall and 7-5 in the conference, while salvaging a split of the season series.

Sophomore guard Lesley Woods paced Anderson with 14 points, while guard Sierra Simpson added 11 points. Senior Breonda Shannon recorded a team-high five rebounds.

Catawba's Antoinette McPhail led all scorers with 17 points, while pulling down eight rebounds. Taylor May added 15 points with six rebounds, while Elizabeth Merritt and Chloe Bully each tossed in 11 points. Merritt grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, while Quaneasia Coleman handed out a game-high eight assists.

The Lady Indians scored the first nine points of the contest and pushed out to a double-digit lead, 13-2, less than five minutes into the contest. Catawba built a 34-6 advantage with four minutes remaining in the half, before Woods connected on three 3-pointers in the final 3:42 of the half to pull the Trojans within 37-19 at the break.

Catawba opened the second stanza with a 21-5 run to take a 58-26 lead with less than 12 minutes remaining in the contest.

The Trojans return to the friendly confines of the Abney Center for a two-game homestand, beginning with Tusculum on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and closing with Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. AU defeated the Pioneers, 71-53, and topped LMU, 70-56, on the road earlier this season.
