Women's Basketball Ranked Fourth in the Southeast Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Anderson women's basketball team is ranked fourth in the Southeast Region in the NCAA's initial Division II Southeast Region rankings, as released Wednesday.

Anderson (17-7), which is in first place in the South Atlantic Conference, is one of four teams from the SAC in the rankings, along with Lenoir-Rhyne (5th), Newberry (9th) and Catawba (10th).

Clayton State (24-0), which is ranked second in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll, holds the top spot in the Southeast Region rankings and is joined by 16th-ranked USC Aiken (19-4) and Augusta State (16-5) from the Peach Belt Conference. The Pacers are third on the regional list, while ASU is eighth.

No. 10 Limestone (19-2) heads the three Conference Carolinas' teams in the rankings at second, with Barton (16-6) at sixth and Pfeiffer (18-4) at seventh.

The regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through March 6, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday, March 10.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.

Following tonight's road contest at Wingate, the Trojans visit Carson-Newman on Saturday.
