ANDERSON, S.C. - Four 3-pointers in the final nine minutes fueled a rally as the Anderson women's basketball team posted a 70-66 come-from-behind win past Catawba in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Abney Athletic Center.

Anderson improved to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference with their third straight win, while Catawba (4-3, 1-1 SAC), which defeated preseason league favorite Wingate three nights ago, had its win streak halted at four.

Trailing, 59-50, with 9:32 remaining in the game, the Trojans closed out the contest with a 20-7 run fueled by four treys, including two from sophomore guard Lesley Woods. Freshman guard Madison Floyd sparked the rally with her second triple of the afternoon, then Woods sandwiched a pair of 3-pointers from deep in the left corner around a fast break layup from Alissa Diaz to give Anderson a 61-59 edge with 6:39 left in the contest. It was AU's first advantage since holding a 25-23 lead at the 6:40 mark of the first half and was a lead AU would not relinquish.

Senior guard Amanda Parris drained her third 3-pointer of the game to boost the Trojan cushion to 64-59, but the Lady Indians trimmed the lead to 64-63 with less than four minutes left. Senior guard Alissa Diaz answered with three consecutive short jumpers for Anderson, while the Trojan defense held Catawba to a free throw during the same span.

Catawba's Chloe Bully pulled the Indians within 70-66 with two of her team-high 19 points with 55 seconds on the clock, but Catawba would get no closer over the final seconds, as the Trojans earned their first win in five tries versus the Indians.

Anderson scored the first nine points of the game, with Diaz notching five of her game-high 20 points inside the opening four minutes of action. After Catawba called a timeout, the Indians scored five straight points, but the Trojans opened their largest lead of the game, 18-5, with 13:06 on the clock on the strength of a 7-0 surge, as senior Tilde Ahlin drained a 3-pointer from the top of the circle and three other Trojans chipped in a basket.

But the Indians refused to go away, reeling off a 30-10 run over the next 11 minutes to gain a 37-28 lead with 2:30 remaining in the first half and held a 51-35 halftime advantage.

The Trojans opened cold in the second half, connecting on just one of their first eight shots, enabling Catawba to equal its largest lead of the game, at 48-39, before AU heated up from long range.

Diaz finished with a game-high 20 points, while Parris added 13 points. Senior Breonda Shannon netted 10 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Sierra Simpson dished out a game high five assists.

Bully tallied 19 points for the Indians, while Antionette McPhail recorded a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Following a six-day layoff, the Trojans play host to Georgia College on Saturday, Dec. 8, with tip-off slated for 2 p.m
