ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson women's team swept the doubles' points, but was unable to complete the victory, as the Trojans dropped a hard-fought 5-4 decision to 32nd ranked and South Atlantic Conference-leading Wingate Monday afternoon at the Max Grubbs Memorial Tennis Courts.

Anderson, which entered the day's action tied for second with Brevard in the league standings, slipped to 9-6 overall and 6-2 in the SAC, while Wingate clinched at least a share of first place in the conference, improving to 18-1 overall and 8-0.

Anderson sophomores Camie Beaulieu-Brunet and Emily Weiland teamed up for the first time this season, garnering a 9-8 win past the Bulldog tandem of Kelli Ferguson and Kara Stasikelis at No. 1, while the Trojan duo of Avery Owens and Lauren Trumbull defeated Samantha Alschlager and Ali Evers, 8-5, at the No. two doubles' slot.

Senior Julie Halbert and junior Shelby Anderson completed the doubles' sweep with an 8-4 win past Wingate's Olivia Poole and Morgan Winston at No. 3.

Trumbull later claimed her second win of the afternoon by defeating Poole, in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 4 singles' slot.

The Trojans visit second-place Brevard (6-1 SAC) Tuesday afternoon, while the Tornados travel to Wingate on Saturday. First-serve versus the Tornados is slated for 2 p.m. Tuesday.
