Mars Hill Gets Past Trojans

MARS HILL, N.C. - Freshmen Kelly Lacey and Shannon Gillespie each recorded eight kills on the afternoon, but the Anderson volleyball team wrapped up its brief three-match road swing with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-23) setback to Mars Hill in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon at Stanford Arena.

Mars Hill (6-5, 3-5 SAC) has won two straight, while Anderson (5-12, 3-4 SAC) dropped its third consecutive road decision.

Freshman Kalie Endres led the Trojans with 20 digs, while freshman Alix Hooker added 15. Meghan Cautero finished with a match-high 22 assists. Junior Tiffany Rowe notched three total blocks on the afternoon.

Mars Hill's Jill Biediger posted a match-high 10 kills. Maggie Murphy and Marissa Wixson recorded 25 and 22 digs, respectively, while Hannah Wilson dished out 20 assists. Chelsea Larsen totaled four block assists.

Anderson gets back in action with a two-match SAC homestand, beginning with league-leading Wingate on Friday. First-serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Abney Athletic Center.
