ANDERSON, S.C. - Catawba senior guard Milicia Ivanovic notched a rare four-point play with 1:31 on the clock as the league-leading Indians edged Anderson, 71-67, in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Abney Athletic Center.

With the setback, Anderson dropped to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the league, while Catawba (10-4, 4-0 SAC) extended its win streak to six games and stayed unbeaten in conference action.

The Trojans jumped out to a 15-6 lead less than six minutes into the contest by scoring eight unanswered points, with sophomore Breonda Shannon fueling the run by scoring four of her seven first-half points in a two-minute span.

Catawba chipped away at the AU advantage, closing within five points on three occasions before taking its first lead of the contest at 34-33 on a free throw by Ivanovic with 46 seconds left in the first half. The Trojans' Alexa Neal answered with two free throws just before halftime to give AU a one-point lead at the break.

Anderson came out of the break and steadily built the first of three nine-point leads with 12:06 on the clock and claimed its largest lead of the game, at 63-53, at the 6:44 mark. However, Catawba answered with a 16-4 run over the next five minutes to take just their third lead of the contest on Ivanovic's play.

Catawba's Dana Hicks connected on two free throws to set the final margin.

The Indians held a narrow 34-33 rebounding advantage, while AU out-shot Catawba, 48.9 percent to 36.7 percent on the night.

Ivanovic scored a game-high 26 points, while Hicks added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Elizabeth Merritt chipped in 11 points for the visitors.

Alissa Diaz and Alexa Neal shared team-high scoring honors for the Trojans, each with 11 points, while Amanda Parris, Maci Siniard and Shannon tallied 10 points apiece.

Anderson will look to get back in the win column when the Trojans play host to Newberry in the finale of the homestand on Wednesday. Tip-off versus the Wolves is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Abney Center
