Box score

HARROGATE, Tenn. - Anderson opened a two-game road swing with a 72-63 setback to Lincoln Memorial in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball Saturday night at Tex Turner Arena.

Anderson (6-8, 2-4 SAC), which had dropped its previous three games by a total of 13 points, suffered its sixth consecutive setback, while Lincoln Memorial (7-7, 2-4 SAC) won its second straight decision.

With Lincoln Memorial holding a 15-14 lead, the Trojans reeled off seven unanswered points to gain a 21-15 lead with 6:01 left in the first half. However, the Lady Railsplitters withstood the run and regained a brief one-point edge with just over a minute remaining. Two late free throws by sophomore Breonda Shannon gave Anderson a 31-30 advantage at the half.

The Trojans continued their surge through the first five minutes of the second half, opening their largest lead of the game, 40-32, on two free throws from Alissa Diaz. But the Lady Railsplitters rallied to regain the lead with 3:27 remaining and refused to relinquish the advantage, pushing out to the final nine-point advantage at the end.

Shannon notched her first career double-double with a game-high 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Alexa Neal added 15 points. Diaz chipped in 11 points.

For the Lady Railsplitters, Destiny Williams, Dayshalee Salaman, and Chelsea Craig each recorded double-digit scoring performances. Williams finished with 15, Craig with 14, and Salaman with 13. Kendra Holmes was the leading rebounder for LMU, notching eight boards.

Anderson closes out its brief two-game road swing with a visit to Tusculum College on Wednesday. Tip-off versus the Lady Pioneers in Greeneville, Tenn., is slated for 6 p.m.
