Jefferson City, Tenn. - Carson-Newman stretched its winning
streak to four matches with a 3-0 (27-25, 26-24, 25-18) decision
past Anderson in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action
Saturday afternoon at Holt Fieldhouse.
With the setback, the Trojans fall to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in SAC
play, while the Lady Eagles improve to 9-3 on the season and 3-3 in
the conference.
The Trojans led, 23-20, in the opening set before the Lady
Eagles rallied for the win.
The teams fought back and forth in the second set as well, with
Anderson reaching match point with a 24-23 lead. However, the Lady
Eagles took advantage of a Trojan serving error to tie the match,
and Nikki James and Carly Mozgai combined on a block for the
decisive point to give C-N a 26-24 win.
The Lady Eagles built an early 10-2 lead in the third set and
claimed the 25-18 victory behind a .444 hitting percentage.
"The first two sets were really tight," said Anderson head coach
Craig Mosqueda. "But we couldn't overcome our self-inflicted
errors. We know we can play with the top teams and a top-three
finish in the league is still very possible."
Jamie Lancaster paced Anderson with 13 kills and 17 digs, while
Tori Calhoon tallied seven kills. Lindsay Doggett had a
double-double with a match-high 35 assists and 13 digs.
Carson-Newman junior Nikki James led the way for the way for the

and six kills. Senior Carly Mozgai produced a double-double with 14
kills and 14 digs, while Carly Swisher added 12 kills and three
block assists, while Rachael Bowlin added seven kills, 11 digs and
