DUE WEST, S.C. -- After several false starts due to weather, the Anderson women's tennis team opened its 2010 campaign with a 7-2 setback at the hands of Erskine Wednesday afternoon. Anderson fell to 0-1 on the season while Erskine stayed perfect at 2-0, with bot wins coming in league action. The doubles duo of Marcela Gallegos and Shelby Anderson got the Trojans on the board with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles past the Flying Fleet's Abby OReilly and Victoria Stephens, but Anderson suffered setbacks at both the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles slots. On the singles side, the Trojans Angie Solorzano dropped a narrow 6-4, 7-5 loss to EC's Tessa Rheault at No. 1 and AU's Emily Weiland fell 6-3, 7-6 to the Fleet's Victoria Stephens at No. 4. Julie Halbert notched the Trojan's lone singles win with a 76-, 6-0 straight-set win past Hanna Fisher. Anderson will be back on the courts this Friday when the Trojans continue league action with a visit to Queens in Charlotte.
