ANDERSON, S.C. -- Junior guard Alexa Neal totaled 21 points and
was the leading scorer for Anderson as they won 71-52 over rival
Erskine College in Conference Carolina's women's basketball action
Thursday night at the Abney Athletic Center. The loss dropped the
Flying Fleet to 6-7 overall, 5-4 in Conference Carolinas play. The
Trojans improved to 9-5 overall, and 8-1 in the conference with the
win. "It was a total team effort, and I am very proud of our
ladies," said head women's basketball coach Jim Brunelli. "We were
very prepared today, and we stuck to the game plan which was
crucial. Alexa Neal, Shanice Wilson, and Amanda Parris all had
great games." The trio of guards accounted for 45 of the Trojans 71
points. Wilson notched 14 points to go along with eight rebounds,
while freshman Parris scored 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the
charity stripe. Anderson never trailed in the contest, and used a
three key runs throughout the game to capture the win. Erskine
ended the first half on a 7-0 run to make the halftime score 28-25
in favor of Anderson. Yet, the Trojans responded by scoring 12
unanswered points to start the second half. They would remain in
the driver seat from that point forward, and added a pair of 9-0
runs later in the half en route to a win. The Trojans have two days
to prepare for conference rival Barton on Saturday. Tip-off at the
Abney Athletic Center versus the Bulldogs is scheduled for 5:30
p.m.
