SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Using a balanced attack, the Anderson
volleyball team opened conference action by blanking Converse, 3-0,
(25-17, 25-19, 25-23) Tuesday night on the Valkyries home court.
"We played much better tonight," said Anderson head coach Craig
Mosqueta. "Our ball handling was much better and that set the tone.
Hopefully, we're back on the right track and it's good to get
started in conference play with a win. Anderson improved to 6-2
overall and 1-0 in the Conference Carolinas, while Converse fell to
4-6 overall and 1-1 in the league. Junior outside hitter Jamie
Lancaster led the Trojans' offense with 12 kills, and shared
match-high defensive honors with setter Lindsay Doggett, as each
collected 13 digs. Doggett also handed out 31 assists on the night,
while freshman Paulette Rivers recorded three solo blocks against
the Valkyries. Anderson returns to action on Saturday, when the
Trojans square off against Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial in
Harrogate, Tenn., with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Mary
E. Mars Gymnasium.
