WINGATE, N.C. -- The Anderson volleyball team swept St. Augustines, 3-0, (25-19, 25-18, 25- 17) and dropped a 3-0 (14-25, 16-25, 13-25) decision to Wingate in the Wingate Classic Saturday afternoon at Cubby Arena. Anderson (5-2), fell behind, 5-2, in the opening set against St. Augustine's before rallying to even the score at five apiece. The Falcons quickly reclaimed a three-point advantage, but the Trojans refused to go away, again pulled even at 10-10 with Brittani Herron serving. Jamie Lancaster's kill tied the score at 14-14 and Marlie Bryant gave AU a lead it would not relinquish as the Trojans went on to claim the first set, 25-19. The Trojans jumped ahead early in the second frame, but saw St. Augustine's pull even at 10-10 in a set that saw five ties. The Falcons took a brief lead, 15-12, before AU recovered to gain a 16-15 edge and hold off St. Augustine's, 25-18. AU snapped a 7-7 tie and went on to claim a 25-17 third set win behind Lancaster's six kills. "We came out a little flat," said Anderson head coach Craig Mosqueta. "But our bench came on and played well in the first match." Lancaster posted a match-high 15 kills en route to recording a .321 attack percentage, while Lindsay Doggett handed out 29 assists. In the weekend's final match for AU, the host Bulldogs (7-0) got past the Trojans in three sets. Lancaster again led the Anderson attack with nine kills and 12 digs and sophomore outside hitter Adria Mullaney added eight kills and nine digs for the Trojans while sophomore setter Lindsay Doggett had 26 assists. Lancaster and Mullaney were named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the two-day affair. Lancaster knocked down a total of 44 kills in four sets, an average of 3.67 kills per game and recorded a team-high 42 digs, while Mullaney collected 16 kills in the two contests versus Wingate.
