BANNER ELK, N.C. -- The Trojans battled tough on the road, but
Anderson fell, 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-21) to Lees-McRae in
Conference Carolinas volleyball action Friday night at Williams
Gymnasium. In the first set, Anderson (9-8, 4-4 Conference
Carolinas) pushed out to a 15-13 lead, but saw the Lady Bobcats
pull within one, 15-14, before AU's Adria Mullaney responded with a
kill from to extend the lead to 16-14, but Lees-McRae (12-4, 7-1
Conference Carolinas) went on a six-point run by tough serving from
Megan Mitchell to take a 20-16 lead. Anderson rallied to tie the
match a 21, but a kill by Lees-McRae's Lauren Hall put the Lady
Bobcats ahead for good in the set to earn the 25-22 win. The second
set saw Anderson jump out to a 10-5 lead before the Bobcats rallied
to tie the set at 13. After four ties at 14, 15, 17 and 18,
Lees-McRae edged ahead 19-18, and the Lady Bobcats claimed the
narrow 25-23 win. Again, set three started with AU taking an early
lead, 10-7, before Lees-McRae could rally and tie the set at 13.
Lees-McRae stayed just out of reach to earn the 25-21 set three win
to claim the match. Anderson was led by junior Jamie Lancaster, who
had a match-high 12 kills on 25 attempts with only three errors for
a .360 hitting percentage. She also led the team with 10 digs.
Lindsay Doggett passed out 32 assists and collect nine digs, while
freshman Puallette Rivers led the Lady Trojans with three total
blocks, one solo and two assists. Anderson visits Belmont Abbey
tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
