Chad Odom begins his seventh season with the Trojans in 2026.
In 2025, Odom helped lead the Trojans to a 23-8 overall record and a 16-4 mark in SAC play, advancing to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen for just the second time in program history. Seven Trojans earned All-SAC honors, while Mikaylah Hedlund was named the SAC Freshman of the Year. Ellie Nieporte earned AVCA All-Region First Team honors, while two Trojans were named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mentions. Three Trojans also garnered AVCA Honorable Mention All-America recognition.
The 2024 season saw the Trojans finish with a 19-11 overall record and a 13-5 mark in SAC play. Hannah Neff earned the Elite 23 Award, while four Trojans earned All-SAC honors. Two players were named to the AVCA All-Region First Team, while another earned AVCA All-Region Second Team honors. One Trojan was named to the D2CCA Southeast Region Second Team, and three garnered AVCA Honorable Mention All-America recognition.
Odom helped guide the Trojans through a historic 2023 campaign, as Anderson finished with a 28-6 overall record, a 16-2 mark in SAC play and an undefeated 10-0 record at home. Six Trojans earned All-SAC honors, while two were named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Team and two earned AVCA All-Region recognition. The Trojans advanced to the NCAA National Quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
The 2022 campaign saw the Black and Gold post a 21-8 overall record, including a 13-5 mark in South Atlantic Conference play, while earning the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional. Four Trojans earned All-SAC honors, while Lindsay McCurley was named the SAC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and claimed the SAC Elite 23 Award. Noelle Knutsen went on to garner All-Region and All-America accolades.
In 2021, Odom helped the Trojans become the ninth team in program history to post at least 22 victories in a single season and saw four players earn All-South Atlantic Conference honors at the conclusion of the regular season (Madison Roy, Regan Duty, Noelle Knutsen and Jaelyn Grimm). The Trojans wrapped up the season with a share of the SAC Regular Season Championship – its second title in five seasons - and finished as runners-up to Lenoir-Rhyne in the SAC Tournament.
Anderson wrapped up the 2021 campaign by winning 11 of its last 13 decisions and 16 of its last 19 outings, while capturing a share of the league’s regular-season title and earning the program's fourth straight appearance - and its seventh overall appearance - in the NCAA Tournament.
The Trojans reached the South Atlantic Conference Tournament for the tenth consecutive season in 2021 and hosted the NCAA Southeast Region Championship for the first time in program history as the No. 2 seed.
Odom helped guide the Trojans through the pandemic challenges of the 2021 spring season, with AU notching a 9-3 overall record and finishing second in the SAC standings. The Trojans also advanced to the finals of the SAC tournament for the third time since joining the league in 2010.
Odom helped mentor Maya Learmonth, Madison Roy, Regan Duty and Tabitha Wheeler to all-conference honors, with Wheeler also capturing Freshman of the Year accolades. Roy was also named the Sports Import D-II National Player of the Week in mid-March, with Lindsay McCurley and Meghan DeVaux garnering CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, as well.
Odom is well known on the Upstate volleyball scene, having coached with Upward Stars volleyball in Spartanburg (formerly Club South) for more than 24 years. He served as an Assistant Coach at Wofford for fourteen years, as well as at Boiling Springs High School and Spartanburg Christian Academy.
He holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of South Carolina. He is a resident of Simpsonville where he lives with his wife Lisa and their two children, Archer and Lily.
