Vanessa Wilson was named the assistant for the Anderson University Softball program in Dec. 2025 under head coach Kelly Roberts. She is entering her second season with the Trojans.Â
"I am excited to welcome Vanessa Wilson to our coaching staff." said Roberts. "Her experience competing in the SAC gives her a deep understanding of the preparation and competitiveness required at this level."
During her first season as an assistant for the Black and Gold, Wilson helped guide the Trojans to a historical season, boasting a 38-15 record overall and 17-5 in SAC competition before finishing as the SAC runner-up and earning a bid in the 2026 NCAA Regional Tournament. Anderson made history on their home turf, tallying 20 victories and just a single loss.Â
Wilson joins the Trojans from Auburn University of Montgomery, where she served as a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Administration.Â
Wilson played at Newberry College where she graduated with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 2024 before earning her masters at AUM in Dec. 2025. During her time as an athlete (2021-2024), she was a two-time CSC academic all-district honoree, inducted into the Bachman Honor Society at Newberry College (top 8% of the graduating class), two-time Student Teacher of the Year honoree, and a graduation commencement speaker.
