Trojans Sweep LMU for 14-Straight Wins, Post Game Two Clean Sheet

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Softball (22-6, 8-2 SAC) held SAC opponent Lincoln Memorial (10-20, 2-8 SAC) scoreless in game two, securing it's seventh-straight doubleheader victory (5-3, 6-0) at home on Tuesday afternoon.

"What a sweep!" said head coach Kelly Roberts. "Lauren Brakovec was unstoppable going 6-for-6 with two bombs and Carson Hobbs absolutely dominated in the circle while adding a homer of her own. Defense was solid for 14 innings! Great team win!"

Game one saw senior Lauren Brakovec (Farragut, Tenn.) boast a career high four hits in a single game after going 4-for-4. She opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first after blasting one outside the park in center field. In the bottom of the third, she batted a single through the left side for another Trojans to round the base. Sophomore Chloe Maness (Belton, S.C.) scored in the bottom of the fourth after senior Carson Hobbs (Nicholson, Ga.) reached on a fielder's choice. Brakovec rounded out the scoring for the Black and Gold with a double for the final Trojan to return home. Late in the top of the seventh, Lincoln Memorial attempted to close the gap late in the seventh with a homer to center field but were unsuccessful.

In the circle, freshman Kora Kilgore (Smithville, Tenn.) recorded her fifth victory on the mound, tallying six strikeouts while only allowing four hits with three runs in six innings. Sophomore Caroline Morgan (Silver Creek, Ga.) posted a save on the game for her first of the season after pitching the final inning of the first Trojan victory.

Coming out hot in the nightcap, Brakovec notched her second homer of the day and fifth of the season to cash in two runs just before Hobbs cleared the fence for an unearned grand slam in the bottom of the sixth. Brakovec finished the night going 6-for-6 at bat with two walks.

On the mound and securing the clean sheet victory for the Trojans after an incredible performance at bat was Carson Hobbs (7-2). The Nicholson native pitched all seven innings, recording three strikeouts and only five hits for a perfect 0.00 ERA on the game.

The Black and Gold remain home tomorrow, March 25 when they meet with USC Aiken for the second time this season on a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
