Schermerhorn to Join Staff as Assistant Director for Sports Information

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University Athletics Department and Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Communications and Marketing Michael Sanders, has announced the addition of Brianna Schermerhorn to the Trojan Family, joining the department as Assistant Director for Sports Information on July 14.

"I am beyond excited to join the Trojan family and community," commented Schermerhorn. "Everyone I have met at Anderson has been amazing and incredibly helpful throughout this process. I am beyond thankful that the Lord has led me to Anderson and I already feel at home. I am excited to work with the amazing student-athletes and coaches here at Anderson and would like to thank Dr. Epting along with the rest of the staff for this incredible opportunity,"

Schermerhorn joins Anderson after spending the spring semester as the secondary contact for the softball program at Binghamton University. During her time with the Bearcats, she was responsible for many facets of athletic communications for five sports including content creation for all social media platforms, stats inputting, and maintaining the athletics websites.

"Brianna was a steal of a hire for us here at Anderson," added Sanders. "Her diverse background from photography, social media, and athletic communications makes her the perfect piece to the puzzle in our office. Everyone that I talked to raved about her work ethic, her creativity, and her passion for the industry. Each one said they would have hired her on the spot if they could. We look forward to the fresh ideas and energy that she will bring to the staff and the impact that she will have on the student-athletes here at Anderson."

No stranger to athletic communications, Schermerhorn has photographed and volunteered in the media workroom at multiple mega events including the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championships.

During her undergraduate studies, Schermerhorn served as a sports information student assistant and student photographer where she traveled to the NCAA DIII Football National Championships in Salem, VA.

Graduating high school in the top 10 of her class, Schermerhorn has earned multiple awards throughout her career, earning the Claude F. Haton Photography and journalism award for her involvement with the athletics department.

Schermerhorn recently earned her Bachelors' degree from the State University of New York at Cortland in Sport Management with a concentration in Sport Media and Technology. She also added a minor in Communication Studies.
