ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the fourth time this season, Anderson University outside hitter Marissa Mitter has earned AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Mitter notched 32 kills (5.33/set), while recording 17 digs, two block assists and a pair of service aces as the Trojans built their school-record win streak to 21 matches – the third-longest active streak in the nation - with two conference road wins last weekend.
The Redondo Beach, Calif., native is one of only three players in the SAC to have at least 300 kills and 300 digs on the season, and recorded her 13th double-double of the season with a match-best 19 kills and added 10 digs in the sweep of Tusculum. She followed up with a match-high 13 kills and chipped in seven digs when AU blanked Mars Hill to secure its first SAC Regular Season Championship since joining the league in 2010.
Mitter leads the SAC with 367 kills and 409.5 points and is second with 3.86 kills per set and 4.3 points per set.
The top-seeded Trojans play host to No. 8 seed Coker, tonight in the quarterfinals of the SAC Tournament. First-serve is slated for 7 p.m. at the Abney Athletic Center.
