Trojans Capture Top Spot as Seedings Released for SAC Volleyball Championship

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Hours after winning its first-ever South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship, the Anderson University volleyball team was installed as the top seed in the event, as announced by the conference office.

Anderson (26-3, 19-1 SAC) set a new school record for wins in a single season en route to the title and will play host to eighth-seeded Coker in Tuesday's SAC Tournament Quarterfinals at the Abney Athletic Center. First-serve versus the Cobras is scheduled for 7 p.m.

After winning or sharing the previous 11 regular-season titles, Wingate earned the No. 2 seed as it finished the conference season with an 18-2 record.  Queens is the No. 3 seed after a 14-6 South Atlantic Conference record. Carson-Newman and Tusculum turned in identical 10-10 SAC records. Carson-Newman broke the tie and earned the No. 4 seed with its 2-0 record vs. Coker as Tusculum went 1-1 vs. the Cobras. The Pioneers will be the No. 5 seed. Mars Hill's 9-11 SAC record was good for the No. 6 seed. Lincoln Memorial finished the season 8-12 in league action for the No. 7 seed. Coker earned the 8th and final seed following a 7-13 SAC record.
The 2017 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Championship quarterfinals will be played at the highest seeds on Tuesday Nov. 14 before moving to Carson-Newman for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 17 and 18, respectively. The South Atlantic Conference Tournament Champion receives the league's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championship. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
