NEW ORLEANS – The Anderson University women's and men's cross country teams remained third and fifth, respectively in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Regional Rankings, as released Tuesday afternoon.
The top-10 teams in the women's poll remained unchanged for the second straight week, with the Trojan women remaining No. 3 for the third consecutive week. Queens, one of four South Atlantic Conference teams in the poll, stayed at the top of the rankings. Mount Olive, the lone Conference Carolinas' representative, remained second, with AU at No. 3. North Georgia tops five Peach Belt Conference teams in the rankings at No. 4.
Wingate continues to occupy the fifth slot, with Augusta in sixth. Georgia College, Flagler, UNC Pembroke and Lenoir-Rhyne round out the women's rankings.
The top five teams in the men's poll remained unchanged, with Mount Olive at No. 1 in the rankings, with Queens at No. 2 and Augusta in the third spot. UNC Pembroke was fourth, while AU is in the fifth spot for the third consecutive week after being ranked ninth in the preseason.
Wingate was not ranked last week, but after finishing third at the Bulldog Stampede, WU made an appearance at sixth this week, while perennial conference powerhouse Mars Hill jumped into the seventh slot. Columbus State slipped two spots to No. 8, with Georgia College at ninth and Lincoln Memorial dropped to 10th. Flagler and Lenoir-Rhyne both fell out of this week's poll.
