The 2008 Conference Carolinas Women’s Coach of the Year, Danny Neal, is in his 12th year at the helm of the Anderson University men's and women’s golf teams.

His first year was one of the most successful in the history of the Anderson University golf program, as the Trojans swept the 2004 conference tournament titles, claiming both the Men's and Women's CVAC titles at Foxfire Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C. Anderson’s Kathryn Adkins, the 2004 CVAC Women’s Player of the Year, won medalist honors in that inaugural tourney.

In his first eight seasons, Neal directed the men's team to four NCAA Regional bids. During Neal’s tenure, the men’s program has produced seven All-Conference players, including CVAC Freshman of the Year award winner, Adam Sheriff in 2006, who went on to earn first-team all-conference accolades in three of his four seasons at AU. The Trojan men have achieved four tournament victories and held a national ranking of as high as No. 17. Neal has guided an impressive 13 women’s golfers to all-conference accolades, with Katie Eskew earning South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 2011.

Adkins claimed Player of the Year honors on the women’s side in 2004, while most recently Neal guided a trio of Trojan golfers to All-Conference honors. Women's golfer Sophie Dembroski, along with teammate Laura Buyers and men's golfer Ryan Booth were named to the 2010 Conference Carolinas' All-Conference Teams. Dembroski carded a career-best second-round 70 en route to winning the Dana Rader Intercollegiate, hosted by Pfeiffer.

The women's golf team won the 2006 Upstate Classic, hosted by Limestone College at the Cherokee National Golf Course and also claimed the 2008 Anderson University Invitational title at the Brookstone Meadows Country Club.

Neal earned a B.S. degree in physical education from Erskine College and an A.A. degree from Polk Community College. He is a PGA Master Professional with Specialty Certification in Teaching.

Before coming to AU, Neal was the director of instruction at the Eagle Zone Golf Instruction Center in Greenville, S.C. for eight years. At the Eagle Zone, Neal taught more than 6,000 private lessons and developed corporate clinics and junior clinics. He was a nominee for the Carolinas PGA Section Teacher of the Year Award in 2001 and 2003.

Prior to joining the staff at the Eagle Zone, Neal was a certified master club fitter and assembler with Slazenger Golf. He taught fellow professionals the club fitting system, conducted fittings and was involved in all aspects of club assembly.

Neal was the general manager and head golf professional at Carolina Springs Golf Club in Fountain Inn, S.C., from 1993 to 1995. Before taking the job at Carolina Springs, Neal was the first assistant professional at the Thornblade Club in Greer, S.C.

Neal started his career at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, S.C., where he coached 1989 U.S. Amateur champion Chris Patton.

He and his wife, Suzy, have three daughters, Meredith, Lindsay and Kendall.
