V.I.P. Golf Tournament

The Anderson University Athletics Department holds an annual VIP Golf Tournament to benefit the scholarship fund for Trojan student-athletes and is organized and staffed almost entirely by volunteers from the University and the athletics department.

AU held its’ 15th Annual VIP Golf Tournament this past summer at the Cliffs at Keowee Springs, with a foursome from Thrift Brothers, Inc., taking home the top prize after a tremendous day on the links by the 28 teams in the event.

After being postponed from its original date, the weather cooperated fully as Tim Hydrick, David Land, Evan Black and Jack Ferguson combined to claim first place after winning a tiebreaker with the Cliffs Communities team and a foursome sponsored by Chapman, Byerholdt and Yon, as all three teams wrapped up the day with an impressive 13-under par 59.

“We enjoyed a wonderful and successful VIP tournament, and I am tremendously grateful to all of our sponsors and participants,” said Director of Athletics Nancy Simpson. “Thanks to their commitment to Trojan Athletics, we will be able to continue to grow and thrive as we move into the South Atlantic Conference.”

The Honorable G. Ross Anderson, Jr. Senior U.S. District Judge, was Grand Marshall, while Butch Hughes of the Anderson Independent-Mail and Rick Fisher from The Cliffs Communities served as Co-Chairmen of the event.
