Ed Duvall was named Anderson’s head athletic trainer in 2007 and promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics in July, 2015.
Duvall attended Anderson University from 1990 – 1991, before the school became a four-year institution and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Lander University in 1993. After earning his master’s degree in athletic training at West Virginia University in 1995, he returned to the Upstate and was employed with Anderson Physical Therapy from 1995 – 2001. While with Anderson Physical Therapy, Duvall worked with several area high school athletic programs, most notably Pendleton, Pickens and Westside.
He serves as the administrator for AU cross country and track.
Following his stay in Anderson, Duvall moved to Greenwood in 2001 to work for Lakelands Orthopedics as a Physician Extender. He was involved in the daily routine of the office and was a personal assistant to an orthopedic surgeon, where he learned the details of casting, taking x-rays and developing, and also covered various office procedures. Duvall first-assisted with the surgeon on all surgery cases and was also involved in covering the Abbeville High School Wildcats during their back-to-back football state championships.
From 2003-2007, he worked in Sumter, S.C., in an outpatient rehabilitation center, daily evaluating and rehabilitating athletes and physically active patients with their orthopedic needs. He also provided athletic training services for Lakewood and Crestwood High Schools.
In 2007, Duvall accepted the position of Head Athletic Trainer at Anderson University and, being raised in a military family, he also joined the Army National Guard that year.
“I am looking forward to striving for excellence in all that we do in the Athletic Training Room,” said Duvall. “Each year will be a learning and growing experience to make Anderson University better - professionalism, attitude and teamwork will be our watch-words.”
He and his wife, April, have been married since 2007 and are the proud parents of Kara Noelle and William Noah. They happily reside in Anderson.
