The AU volleyball team is in the midst of a weeklong mission trip to Costa Rica.
The Trojans arrived in Central America Tuesday for their second visit in four years and are tentatively scheduled to play five or six matches against the Costa Rican Junior National team and various club teams, while also visiting orphanages and schools to share their Christian testimony during volleyball clinics for local teams.
Here is the team’s update from the third day …
“Today was a rainy day in Costa Rica. I am not sure why I am surprised by that as it is the rainy season. We were just lucky the first few days as it was sunny and warmer than usual. We started the day off by doing a clinic at International Christian School, which is an English-speaking school. Again we were overwhelmed by 80 fourth, fifth and sixth graders but we managed to split them up in groups so that we can teach them all of the volleyball skills. We had a great time with the kids and again made lots of friends. We ended the clinic with Tinsley sharing her testimony and then sending the kids off with hugs and high fives.
After our clinic we went shopping at one of the downtown markets and the team filled their suitcases with a lot of souvenirs. After shopping, we went to the University of Costa Rica to play. Even though they put up a great defensive fight, we were able to overpower them offensively. We played five sets, and beat them all five sets. It has been great to see the team grow each and every match. After the match, Priscilla shared her testimony with the team and some of the fans who stuck around. My prayer through this week is that we are planting seeds and that at some point they will surrender their lives to Christ.”
