ANDERSON, S.C. – Following a summer of hard work, fundraising and eager anticipation, the Anderson volleyball team is set to embark on a weeklong mission trip to Costa Rica early Tuesday morning.
The Trojans’ traveling party of 10 players, including every returner from last season, plus head coach Craig Mosqueda and former standout Meghan Cautero, will depart campus well before dawn Tuesday morning for Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and is slated to arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica on Tuesday afternoon.
The trip to Central America marks the volleyball squad’s second visit in four years, as the 2010 team also traveled there prior to the season.
The team is tentatively scheduled to squeeze in five or six matches against the Costa Rican Junior National team and various club teams, while also visiting orphanages and schools to share their Christian testimony during volleyball clinics for local teams.
A zip-lining adventure through the Costa Rican jungle is on the schedule before the team returns to campus on Tuesday, Aug. 12, in preparation for the 2014 season.
