ANDERSON, S.C. – Looking to turn the page on the 2013-14 season, Anderson University head wrestling coach Dock Kelly has brought in one of his largest classes in his 15 seasons at AU. Kelly has added 11 wrestlers to the 2014-15 roster looking to solidify one of the top lineups within the region.

Filling gaps in the starting lineup and adding depth to positions, Kelly expanded his recruiting trail to seven different states and one from outside the United States, while also adding four from the Palmetto State.

“Talent wise, this is the most decorated recruiting class during my 14-year tenure,” Kelly said. “We have covered a plethora of needs while simultaneously adding quality depth. These student-athletes will make a tremendous impact for us both in the classroom, as well as on the wrestling mat.”

The class includes: Charlton Clark (Greenville, S.C. / Eastside), Dylan Crossland (Swansea, S.C. / Swansea), Will Diamond (Pace, Fla. / Pace), Tyler Fitzpatrick (Plaistow, N.H. / Timberlane Regional), Michael Gallagher (Narragansett, R.I. / Narragansett), Turbat Luvsandorj (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia), Wyatt McCrackin (Galivants Ferry, S.C. / Aynor), Trevontay Rhodes (Augusta, Ga. / Westside), Fletcher Smith (Savannah, Ga. / South Effingham), Carter Thomas (Chattanooga, Tenn. / Chattanooga Christian), Stephen Washington (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry). The 11 grapplers join Conor Caffrey, Jared Costa, and Austin Price who signed during the early signing period.

Name: Charlton Clark

Hometown: Greenville, S.C.
High School: Eastside H.S.

Clark is a four-year letter winner at Eastside High School as he finished his prep career with 135 victories. Clark was a state qualifier in 2013, while placing second at the regional tournament and third at the county meet. In his final season at Eastside, Clark won the regional and county tournament and was a state runner-up. For his efforts in his final season, Clark earned a spot on the North-South All-Star Team.

Hometown: Swansea, S.C.
Previous School: Swansea H.S.

A four-year letter winner at Swansea, Crossland closed his high school career with 104 wins, while earning three trips to the state tournament. This past season, Crossland was a state runner-up, as his led the Tigers to a regional championship three times. In the classroom, Crossland was a member of the Beta Club and finished in the top 10-percent of his senior class. The Swansea native was also a four-year letter winner in soccer.

Hometown: Pace, Fla.
Previous School: Pace H.S.

Diamond comes to Anderson after qualifying for state twice and as a two-time district champion. Diamond was named all-area twice during his high school career and claimed a regional championship once. The Pace, Fla. native totaled 126 victories in four seasons, excluding 105 wins for his club team, the Sarasota Young Guns.

Name: Tyler Fitzpatrick

Hometown: Plaistow, N.H.
Previous School: Timberlane Regional H.S.

Fitzpatrick ended his high school career with 131 victories and posted two state championships in his final two seasons. For his efforts on the mat and in the classroom, Fitzpatrick represented the state of New Hampshire and received the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award, which is based on wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship and community service.

Hometown: Narragansett, R.I.
Previous School: Narragansett H.S.

Coming to Anderson as a two-time state champion at 170 (junior) and 182 (senior) in Rhode Island, Gallagher recorded an astounding 187 victories for his high school career, including a perfect 53-0 record during his senior season. Gallagher placed sixth in the New England High School Tournament following an appearance in the Senior Nationals NHSCA Tournament in Virginia Beach, Va. The Narragansett, R.I. native won the Most Outstanding Wrestler Award during his junior and senior seasons at the Chad Antoch and Wilson Cup Tournaments.

Name: Turbat Luvsandorj

Hometown: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Twin brother of two-time Division I All-American Turtogtokh Luvsandorj of The Citadel, Turbat was a third-place finisher at the national Mongolian Open.

Name: Wyatt McCrackin
Projected Weight: 285
Hometown: Galivants Ferry, S.C.
Previous School: Aynor H.S.

McCrackin comes to AU after claiming 78 wins throughout his high school career, as he helped Aynor to three regional championships and two Lower State runner-up finishes. McCrackin finished second in the state AA division and the lower-state AA division wrestling at heavyweight. Away from the mat, McCrackin finished in the top-20 of his class and received the Wendy’s High School Heisman honor.

Name: Trevontay Rhodes

Hometown: Augusta, Ga.
Previous School: Campbellsville University
High School: Westside H.S.

Rhodes transfers to Anderson from Campbellsville where he advanced to the NAIA National Championships. For the year, Rhodes recorded 14 pins, one technical fall and two major decisions. At the prep level, Rhodes was the first wrestler from Westside High School to sign a letter of intent for wrestling. The Augusta, Ga. native notched 62 pins and 72 victories for his senior season, claiming a state championship. For his high school career, Rhodes claimed 124 victories.

Name: Fletcher Smith

Hometown: Savannah, Ga.
Previous School: South Effingham H.S.

A four-year letter winner at South Effingham High School, Smith was a two-time state qualifier, highlighted by a second place finish in his senior season. Smith finished with 47 wins in his final season and was named all-Savannah area three times. Smith is also a three-time letter winner in football.

Hometown: Chattanooga, Tenn.
Previous School: Chattanooga Christian H.S.

Due to a knee injury which sidelined Thomas for the majority of his senior season, Thomas shined throughout his junior year, tallying an 18-0 record during the regular season. During his prep career, Thomas was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Chattanooga Christian Charger Tournament. While earning four letters for wrestling, Thomas was also a four-year letter winner in track and field.

Name: Stephen Washington
Projected Weight: 184
Hometown: Roanoke, Va.
Previous School: Patrick Henry H.S.

Washington closed his high school career with 102 victories with 78 pins and 13 technical falls. Washington was a district champion a season ago at 182. During his senior year, Washington placed fourth at the Titan Toughman Tournament, as his team went on to finish in fifth place.
