LYNCHBURG, Va. – Anderson University’s Jill Baxter claimed first in both the high jump and the javelin throw, but a 475-point deficit following Monday’s four events proved too much to overcome, as the junior finished second to Queens’ Mystique Ro in the women’s heptathlon at the Lynchburg College Multi Meet.
Baxter, who also finished second at the same event a year ago, posted a time of 19.53 in the 100 meter hurdles, then captured first in the high jump with a height of 1.51 meters. The Denver, N.C., native narrowly finished second in the shot put with a toss of 9.29 meters and wrapped up Monday’s four events with a third-place showing in the 200 meters in a time of 29.00.
Baxter notched second in Tuesday’s long jump with a distance of 4.43 meters and followed up by earning first place in the javelin throw with a distance of 30.73 meters. She closed the two-day event with a time of 2:48.19 in the 800 meter.
