ANDERSON, S.C. – After picking up two straight victories at home at 133, sophomore Zak Hale has moved up one position to third, while junior Sean Turner has moved back into the top-eight to sixth in the latest Basford Division II Region 2 rankings, released on Monday.
Hale continued his impressive season with back-to-back wins against Coker’s Charlie Huff, who was ranked No. 8 in the region, with an 8-7 decision and UNC Pembroke’s Dylan Bernier with a 15-0 technical fall, his first victory by technical fall of the season. For the year, Hale leads the Trojans in wins with a 17-4 record with five pins.
Turner, who was unranked in last week’s poll, moved up to the No. 6 position. The Monroe, Mich. native is 7-3 with three pins for the season, but has dropped two of his last three bouts while battling injuries. Turner looks to recover in time for the regional tournament on Feb. 28 in Tiffin, Ohio, looking to advance to the NCAA Division II Championships.
Anderson returns to action on Thursday when it heads to nationally ranked Newberry. The first bout from Eleazer Arena is set for 7 p.m.
