ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson freshman Lauren Rudesheim has been named the South Atlantic Conference softball Pitcher of the Week following a stellar performance on the season’s opening weekend, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.
Rudesheim began her collegiate career in impressive style, earning a 10-0 win in Sunday’s nightcap as the Trojans began the season with a pair of five-inning shutout wins past Lees-McRae. The right-handed hurler tossed four complete innings of perfect softball, not allowing a hit and not issuing a walk, while striking out five Bobcat batters en route to earning her first win for the Black and Gold.
“We are very excited for Lauren,” said Anderson head coach Tommy Hewitt. “Hopefully this will light a fire under her to go on and have a really good year.”
The Trojans return to action on Thursday afternoon at North Greenville. First-pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
