ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the second time this season, junior Chandler Hash has been named the South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Hash averaged 30 points on the week, including a career-high 38-point outburst in the Trojans’ 80-64 road win at Catawba on Saturday, which kept Anderson tied at the top of the league standings with Wingate.
“We are very happy for Chandler,” said Anderson head coach Jason Taylor. “He played well and had a great week, while contributing to two good road wins. Our guys did a great job of finding him the ball because he was shooting so well.”
The Greer, S.C., native scored 22 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds in last Wednesday’s road win past Newberry, while adding two assists and a steal. He was 7-of-14 from the field versus the Wolves and connected on 6-of-11 treys. The 6-foot guard was 10-of-15 from the field on Saturday, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and was a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line. He also added a pair of blocked shots and two assists.
On the week, Hash was 17-of-29 (58.6%) from the field and 12-of-20 (60%) from 3-point range, while averaging 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the two wins.
Hash ranks fourth in the conference with his 17.3 points per game average, is fifth in the league in 3-point field goal accuracy and leads the SAC in free throw accuracy.
