ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University head women’s soccer coach Samar Azem has announced the Trojans’ spring schedule, which includes a scrimmage versus women’s soccer alumni.
Azem is planning on making the alumni event an annual tradition at Trojan Stadium on AU’s athletic campus. This year’s scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, with kick-off slated for 2 p.m. Following the game, a catered meal will be served at the athletic campus.
Invitations have been mailed to all alumni with more information and the women’s soccer program asks that alumni start making plans to attend this memorable event!
“I am excited to begin what we hope will be a lifelong annual tradition for Anderson University women’s soccer of bringing our alumni and current players together,” said Azem. “Our alumni have established a framework with which we can develop our program forward and we hope that we can give back to them as well as include them in our very exciting future. This is their home and we want to have something special for them to come back to.”
More information on the event can also be found on the Anderson University women’s soccer Facebook page: Anderson University, SC Women’s Soccer or the program’s twitter page: AUWOMENS_SOCCER
In addition to the alumni game, the Trojans will host Bob Jones University on March 23 at Trojan Stadium, with kick-off slated for 3 p.m.
AU will participate in the CESA College Spring Challenge at the MESA Complex in Greer, S.C. on March 27 and will follow with the Western Carolina 7 v7 Tournament in Cullowhee, N.C. on April 6. The spring schedule will wrap up with a final road game at Big South Conference-member Gardner-Webb on Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m.
“Our spring schedule is designed to give our players experience to prepare us for the fall as well as to create a competitive framework for the program,” said Azem. “Additionally, we have put together a schedule we feel the players will thoroughly enjoy participating and competing in and that’s always exciting.”
