FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson College head volleyball coach Jennifer Bell has announced the addition of five players to the AC roster. "We have added players at every position on the court," Bell said. "I'm really excited about this group. They're all athletic and they will all push for playing time this fall." The AC volleyball newcomers are: -- Amanda Edwards, a 5-foot-7 outside hitter from Azle (Tx.) High School. Edwards was a three-year starter and was named the 2004-05 District 7-4A Serve Receiver of the Year and Azle Offensive Player of the Year. She averaged 15 kills and 10 blocks per match. "Amanda is very aggressive," Bell said. "She should contribute right away as a passer and outside hitter. We will have more offensive options with Amanda on the floor." -- Mandie Stewart, a 5-9 setter/right side hitter from Hillcrest High School, Fountain Inn, S.C. Stewart played in the North-South All-Star game and won the Ram Award at Hillcrest. She played also played for Club South Volleyball, the largest club in the state of South Carolina. "Mandie has played every position on the court," Bell said. "She is prepared to step in wherever she is needed this fall." -- Heather Swain, 5-10 middle hitter from Southside Christian School in Anderson. Heather was a member of the North-South All-Star team and was an all-state and all-region pick. "Heather is an all-around athlete," Bell said. "She has an explosive attack and her jump serve is quite a weapon." -- Laura Tye, 6-0 middle hitter from T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson. Tye was a '04 all-state and all-region selection and Hanna's team MVP. "Laura is an incredible blocker," Bell said. "I look forward to seeing how much she can increase her strength during the summer. We some added strength, she can help us this fall." -- Jordan Keown, 5-10 outside hitter from Westside High School in Anderson. Keown was Westside's '04 MVP. "Jordan brings a winning attitude to the program," Bell said. "She is a nice fit for our team."
