LADY TROJANS ROUT ST. ANDREWS

LAURINBURG, N.C. -- Anderson University jumped out to a 23-0 lead in the first nine and a half minutes and went on to post an 85-49 victory over St. Andrews Presbyterian in a Conference Carolinas game Saturday afternoon. Anderson, 11-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference, has won four straight and eight of its last nine. The Lady Trojans have limited their last three opponents to 49 points or less. "We came out with tremendous energy defensively," said Anderson head coach Jeff Dow. "I've been impressed with how focused we've been. Our defense triggers our offense. I was impressed with everything we did today." Anderson was led by Nikki Anthony and Korie Sellers with 14 points apiece. Anthony was 4-for-7 from the field, 6-for-7 from the free throw line and had seven rebounds before fouling out after just 18 minutes. Sellers was 6-for-8 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line. Shanice Wilson and Whitney Ketner added 12 points apiece, Alexa Neal tallied 11, and Keana Boyd chipped in 10 points for the Lady Trojans. Anderson had 24 assists on 32 baskets. "That shows we did a good job of executing the offense and sharing the ball," Dow said. "The light is coming on offensively. I'm excited about the improvement we have made in the last month." St. Andrews, 3-9 and 2-4, was led by Danielle Norman, who scored 15 points in the first half before suffering an injury that forced her to leave the game. Anderson shot 48 percent from the field while limiting St. Andrews to just 30 percent. Anderson scored 18 points off 26 St. Andrews turnovers. Anderson won the boards, 49-40.
