JV Basketball Drops Contest to GordonJanuary 12, 2010
ANDERSON, S.C. -- Playing the first of three home games in a seven-day span, the Anderson men's JV basketball team fell, 72-58, to Gordon College Tuesday night at the Abney Athletic Center.
Gordon held a 42-26 lead at the half and edged out to a 25-point advantage early in the second frame behind a 13-4 surge as the Trojans went cold from the field. Anderson’s Zach Smith snapped the AU drought with a deep 3-pointer at the 12:45 mark and ignited a 14-9 run by the Trojans that was capped by a trey from Andrew Driver from the top of the circle. Driver and sophomore guard Tony Strange also added a pair of baskets during the run.
Seth Scheving scored a team-high 15 points for the Trojans, including 12 in the final four minutes of the contest. Austin Mills, Derrik Driver and Strange all added seven points for AU. Anderson will be back on the hardwood quickly, as the Trojans welcome Spartanburg Methodist to the Abney Center on Thursday, with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
