Men's JV Basketball Falls to Oxford CollegeNovember 30, 2009
ANDERSON, S.C. -- Cold shooting from the outside proved costly as the men's JV basketball team dropped a 76-37 decision to visiting Oxford College Monday night at the Abney Athletic Center. The Trojans fell to 1-2 on the season after evening their record 10 days ago with an 82-75 win past Montreat. Anderson fell behind by double digits midway through the first half, but caught fire and trimmed the deficit to just 31-22 at the half. But the Trojans were unable to climb any closer, as they went ice cold and Oxford, a junior college affiliated with Emory University in Atlanta, capitalized by going on a 19-3 run early in the second half. Zach Smith led the Trojans with nine points, while Andrew Driver added five in the effort. “Oxford has a very good team,” said Anderson head coach William Monts. “We couldn’t get anything going offensively. The fan support has been great every game and we really appreciate them coming out. I wish we could have given them more to cheer about tonight.” Anderson is idle until Jan. 12, when the Trojans play host to Gordon College with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Abney Center.
